Description
The most popular outdoor educational opportunity provided by Shepherd’s Valley are the Wild Edible Treks. These treks are generally scheduled from late May through September and normally take about 2-3 hours of easy trail hiking, covering about 1.4-2.4 miles, depending upon which trail we utilize. Participants learn to identify dozens of native wild edible and medicinal plants, learn some local history of their uses, and discover a whole new world of fascinating outdoor lore. We utilize local trails, but can do customized treks in your preferred location as well. Bring a water bottle, comfortable hiking shoes, a notebook, pen, and camera, as well as friends and family members!
These treks have been written about many times over the years by enthusiastic participants in various on-line publications, blogs, and noted on other social media sites. National youth organizations are now scheduling these treks because of the value of the hands-on learning experience.
For established local treks, the cost is $15.00 per person for adults. Children are free if accompanied by a parent or guardian. To schedule a private trek for your group, contact us.
